The National Gallery of Art (on view as of July 2025)

-
Green Marilyn is a silkscreen of one of the most recognizable, iconic American celebrities. The colors are high-contrast, bright and bold and the work is both glamorous and unsettling.
-
Girl with Rose is both playful and critical - very Pop Art. The class pin-up girl’s lips and nose literally protrude from the surface of the painting. The bright colors and blending of sculpture and painting make it unique.

Although Lichtenstein is best known for his comic book, BenDay dot paintings he also sculpted. Located in the National Gallery’s Sculpture Garden, House 1, even thought from the 90s exemplifies the Pop Art palette and the elevation of the everyday. It is also an optical illusion with the perspective of the house shifting as you walk around it.
